Jingdezhen
During a collaborative project with the company Keramis I had the opportunity to visit various traditional factories and workshops in the Chinese porcelain capital Jingdezhen.
In 1004 the Song Emperor Jingde decreed that Jingdezehen should produce all the porcelain for the imperial court, and the city is still one of Southern China's most important ceramics centres today.
For Keramis I designed a series of lamps with a classic porcelain base. This experience and a two-week stay in the porcelain city opened up new horizons for me in the field of porcelain. Manufacturing methods in Jingdezhen are different, to some extent, to those used in Europe, and permit the creation of different shapes.
